Bidspirit auction | Boy on Trapeze - Cast
Boy on Trapeze - Cast Iron Mechanical Bank with Box. - Children's Choice Automatic Bank. Made by J. Barton Smith Company. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Late 1880's. This bank deploys a very unusual concept for its design. When adjusted properly, the weight of different size coins cause the trapeze artist to make a different number of revolutions. The deposit of a nickel brings about a single turn, a quarter will make him turn twice. According to the company's advertisement, a half dollar or silver dollar would give the operator the maximum eye pleasure of three full revolutions. This is a genuinely exceptional specimen of the Boy on Trapeze Bank. Condition: Pristine Plus with Original Box.
