For his watershed book on mechanical toy banks, author John Meyer commissioned a cartoonist to draw an amusing rendering of a daydreaming hobbyist thinking about the ”scores” he hopes to make in the future. One of those ”wished for” acquisitions is the Red Riding Hood Bank, a very small and extremely rare toy bank. In fact, there are fewer than a dozen known extant specimens of this uncommon piece. As the story goes, Red Riding Hood has brought her grandmother food in her picnic basket. She sits on the edge of the bed, completely unaware that the wolf has already devoured the old lady. Put your coin in the slot found in the pillow. Push the operating lever to the left, and the wolf lowers the mask to reveal himself. This is a particularly fine quality example of the Red Riding Hood Bank. Condition: Pristine Condition.
