Milking Cow - Cast Iron Mechanical Bank - Made by the J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Connecticut - Circa 1888. The Milking Cow is a second example of Stevens' series of histrionic ”pedestal” banks. The young farmhand must milk the cow without encountering her objection to his task. To operate the bank, you must start by placing your coin in the slot found on the cow's back. Upon pushing down on the giant red flower (which is the lever), watch the cow use her rear right leg to kick the boy and his milk pail with great force, toppling them backwards off the stool. This represents a spectacular example of the Milking Cow bank, complete with original fence, kicking leg and tail. Condition: Near Mint Condition. Small piece of fence support missing.
