Football Bell Toy - Made by the Gong Bell Company. East Hampton, Ct. - Late 1890's. This extraordinary football themed bell ringer was purchased on eBay some twenty years ago. To date, since its discovery, there are still no other known examples of this rare toy. Like Stevens' Calamity Bank, it features athletes from Yale and Harvard, in this case two field goal kickers. The base illustrates the green grass of the football field. It is cross-crossed with raised silver lines that represent various demarcations of ten yards.
