Rare Equestrian Balance Toy - Made by Hull & Stafford Company. Clinton, Ct. - Circa 1865 - 14 1/2” Tall. This balance toy is sensational in every way imaginable. The minimalistic treatment of the horse and rider, coupled with large stamped tin rondels, help to imbue this early toy with a very folky profile. A spherical cast iron counterweight that runs off the belly of the horse acts to generate the dynamic movement of the toy. It dates to the years immediately following the Great War Between the States. The toy is thoroughly authentic with zero restoration. Condition: Excellent Condition.
