Horse and Bird Balance Toy - Made by James Fallows and Sons. Philadelphia, Pa. - 1880's - 13” Tall. Balance toys are among the rarest forms in the category of American tin toys. They deploy exciting kinetic movement and they typically display a naive simplicity that's reminiscent of world class American Folk Art. We cannot make a firm attribution as to the maker of this toy, but it may be the work of the James Fallows Company or Merriam Mfg. This toy came to light about twenty years ago. It had been a very old collection in Eastern Pennsylvania. Condition: Pristine Plus Condition.
