Circus Rider Automaton Dancer - Made by Ives, Blakeslee & Company. Bridgeport, Ct. - Mid 1880's - 12 1/2” Tall. From the Collection of Louis Hertz. This clockwork toy is certainly one of Ives, Blakeslee's most remarkable mechanical wonders. When the toy is given a strong winding, the horse appears to gallop up and down, forcing the daredevil acrobat to balance himself, albeit precariously, on the horse's saddle. Tom Anderson acquired this amazing toy directly from Louis Hertz in the mid 1980's. Condition: Near Mint Condition with Original Box. Works well.
