Mechanical Stump Speaker - Made by Ives, Blakeslee & Company. Bridgeport, Ct. - Ca. 1880 - 10” Tall. This political stump speaker uses a base that is significantly deeper than the bases Ives used for their many other mechanical toys. This is to accommodate the incorporation of a cast iron table that the orator uses to rap his umbrella upon while he emphasizes the high points of his speech. Again, this is a truly outstanding example of this toy. Condition: Near Mint Condition with Original Box. Works well.
