Uncle Tom the Fiddler - Made by Ives, Blakeslee & Company. Bridgeport, Ct. - Ca. 1880 - 9 3/4” Tall. This charming mechanical toy clearly references Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel Uncle Tom's Cabin. Music in the novel chiefly takes the form of hymns sung by slaves to the accompaniment of instruments such as the fiddle. This is finest quality specimen of this toy we have ever seen.
