Equestrian and Running Dog Platform Toy - Made by the George Brown Company. Forestville, Ct. - Circa 1870 - 6 1/4” Long. Illustrated Page 136 in Barenholtz Book. This toy is listed in Stevens and Brown's 1870 ”Price List of Mechanical Tin and Britannia Toys”. However, as is typical from the period, the line drawing unexplainably shows the horse with a different tail, otherwise all other details are the same. The elaborately stamped base, coupled with the dynamic energy of the equestrian and his dog, make this a particularly appealing platform toy. Condition: Excellent Plus Condition.
