Bidspirit auction | Artillery Bank - Union Soldier
Artillery Bank - Union Soldier - Made by the J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Connecticut - Mid 1890's. Initially, the Artillery Bank was made by the Shepard Hardware Company, who offered the bank in either a nickel plated or copper flashed finish. However, when they closed their operations, they sold several of their most popular designs to the J. & E. Stevens Company. Stevens modified the baseplate to accept their circular twist trap and they revamped the look of the bank by using a painted and japanned finish. Cleverly, the Stevens Company decorated the soldier as either a Union or a Confederate officer. Condition: Near Mint with Original Box.
