Automotive Fire Pumper - Cast Iron Toy
A Scarce Transitional Example. Made by the Hubley Mfg. Company. Lancaster, Pennsylvania - Circa 1910 - 14" Long. From the Frank Kidd Collection The earliest automotive fire vehicles were most typically modified horse carriages. These pivotal pieces are referred to by collectors as "transitional". One can often retrace developments made in firefighting vehicle design simply by studying similar modifications made to fire toys. This beauty is certainly no exception to that observation.
