Patronize the Blind Man and His Dog - Rare Brass Patent Design Prototype
Made by William H. Lotz of Chicago for the J. and E. Stevens Company. Original Patent Issued Feb. 19, 1878. From the Edwin Mosler Collection. Patent designs for toy banks had to clearly indicate the intended actions and movements that were to be effectuated by the bank's design. Even though significant changes were made for Stevens' ultimate finished product, this simple crude design indicates all the U. S. Patent Office needed to authorize the patent.
