Hen & Chicks - Cast Iron Mechanical Bank - J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Connecticut - Early 1900's. The hen protects her chicks by tucking them under her formidable wings. Pulling the lever backwards causes the hen to open and close her beak, as if she is crowing. As the penny drops into the bank, a small hatchling emerges from beneath her breast feathers to surprise us. Condition: Very Good Condition. Lever Replaced.
