Graf Zeppelin at Mooring Towers Cast Iron Doorstop - Extremely Scarce Polychrome Specimen. Unknown Designer & Manufacturer Circa 1930's - 8 3/4” Tall x 13” Wide. Graf Zeppelins were hydrogen filled airships that flew from 1928 to 1937. They offered the first commercial transatlantic passenger flight service. Other remarkable accomplishments of the Graf Zeppelin include the first circumnavigation of the world by airship and the first nonstop crossing of the Pacific. However, their efforts came to an abrupt halt, when in May 1937 the company suffered the loss of 35 people (13 passengers + 22 crew) during the tragedy known as the Hindenburg Disaster in Lakewood, New Jersey.
