Rare Rooster Wedge Doorstop - Made by the Spencer Foundry. Guilford, Ct. - 1920's - 14” T x 11” W. This elegant strutting cock is one of Spencer's most elaborate and fragile creations. In fact, the entire weight of the rooster's head and body are supported merely by his precariously thin legs. Frequently, one finds a weld repair where the base has been re-joined to the bird's body. One sickle tail feather was not fully formed in the mold, nevertheless, this still ranks as one of the top specimens of Spencer's Rooster known to exist. Condition: Excellent Plus Condition.
