Hunter with Rifle & Pipe Spelter Bank - Germany - 1900's - 6 1/2” Tall. Illustrated as #664 in PGSB. In their landmark book on the topic of spelter still banks, the Pierce's identify this bank merely as a hunter with his rifle. Recently, however, this gun-toting desperado has been astutely identified as S. J. Paulus Kruger, the controversial President of the South African Republic from 1883 to 1900. Kruger is most often remembered for his service to his country during the Boer Wars. It is an extremely rare toy bank. In fact, we are not aware of another example.
