Circus Iron Bank - Shepard Hardware Company. Buffalo, NY - 1880's. To operate the Circus Bank, place a penny atop the small pedestal at the back of the bank. Then, turn the crank, which will cause the clown and his cart to make a pass around the circus ring. The horse appears to gallop three times up and down during this rotation. As the clown approaches the penny, he raises his left hand and knocks the coin into the bank.
