Bidspirit auction | Roller Skating Bank Iron Bank
Roller Skating Bank Iron Bank - Kyser & Rex. Philadelphia, PA - 1880's. In the background, we see the skate rental rack along with a wonderful two-armed Victorian chandelier. Additionally, we find a young man bent over to help a girl with her skates. We also witness two clumsy boys who have fallen on the floor. But the main visual imagery revolves around the bank's movement. A boy dressed in red and a girl dressed in yellow race to the back of the elliptical track to determine who is faster on their skates. To the viewer, they appear to be evenly matched, however, the referee always turns to his right to award the winner's wreath to the female skater. Meanwhile, the penny, which had been placed in the canopy above the skate rental booth, has now dropped into the bank.
