Le Sauteur Intrepide Tin Toy - (The Fearless Jumper). Made by Fernand Martin. France - 1900's - 10” Long. This toy deploys a very clever mechanism to achieve the wonderful action of the athlete jumping over the hurdle. When the toy is given a vigorous winding, the runner can be seen circling the simulated mound of earth and grass. Once he reaches the hurdle, he sort of somersaults over it.
