Rare Two Horse Military Caisson Iron Toy - Made by Ives, Blakeslee Company Bridgeport, CT - Circa Late 1890's Excellent Plus Original Condition In the last decades of the 19th century, the Ives Blakeslee Company began to produce a line of cast iron animal drawn toys of exquisite quality. No other company ever came close to equaling the level of detail and design that Ives deployed in their toy production. As a consequence, their toys were very expensive as compared to those made by their competitors. For example, notice the exceptional dynamism of these running horses with their elegant outstretched limbs. This toy represents the very scarce 1896 period version of their caisson. It is of exquisite quality and includes the original cannon with both original figures.
