Foundations of Kabbalah: Sefer Sha'arei Orah, Mantua 1561. First Edition - Sefer Sha'arei Orah, one of the foundational works of Kabbalah, authored by R. Yosef of Gikatilla. First edition, Mantua 1561. Interestingly, another edition was printed concurrently in Riva di Trento, and also was completed in 1561. As such, according to various Bibliographers, both this Mantua edition and the Riva di Trento edition are considered first editions.  This Mantua edition however, is of much greater rarity than the Riva di Trento edition.  Sha'arei Orah is considered the most influential work authored by R. Yosef Gikatilla. R. Chaim Volozhiner writes that Sha'arei Orah contains all the fundametals needed to study Kabbalah, and one should learn it in order to ”fulfill” his obligation of studying Kabbalah. It is also quoted by R. Moshe Cordovero - The Ramak, R. Yosef Karo - Beis Yosef, R. Chaim Vital and the Shela Hakadosh. Small marginal notes seen on some pages. In overall fair condition. Bound in a charming 18th century Italian binding painted by hand; partly detached. Stains and some light worming. Nice margins.  92, [1] pp.
