Teshuvos Mahari Weil, Hanau 1610. Copy of R. Tzvi Hirsch Berlin with Glosses - Responsa of R. Yaakov Weil, a fundamental work from the disciple of the Mahril who lived during the first half of the fifteenth century. Teshuvos Mahari Weil remain to this day as a cornerstone in Halacha with regard to the laws of Shechita; many of The Rema's ruling are in fact based on the responsa of R. Yaakov Weil.  This copy belonged to R. Tzvi Hirsch Berlin, and contains two glosses in his handwriting. Also seen are some glosses from the period of the printing, by an unknown writer.  R. Tzvi Hirsch Berlin (1721-1800), son of R. Aryeh Leib of Amsterdam and grandson of the Chacham Tzvi. In his later years, he was appointed as the Chief Rabbi of London, as well as Berlin, a positioned which he maintained for 27 years. He was a prolific writer and authored many works, most of which are extant in manuscript and have not been printed.  In good condition. Paper slightly browned, like all Hanau imprints. Title page partly restored at bottom corner. The book was trimmed at some point – the areas with the glosses were folded over, preserved fully intact.  91, [1] pp.  Page size: 18.5cm
