Bidspirit auction | Biblia Hebraica – The Goral

Biblia Hebraica – The Goral HaGra Tanach, Amsterdam 1701. An Exquisite Copy - A beautiful copy of the Tanach, Amsterdam 1701, bound in an antique binding with gilt edges. This edition is complete with the entire Tanach in two columns, printed without Nekudos. It is well-known that R. Aryeh Levine would use this edition when conducting the Goral. Presumably, he learned the technique from his teacher R. Chaim Berlin, who had a Mesorah on it from his grandfather, R. Chaim of Volozhin, who learned it from the Vilna Gaon.  With three title pages, the first being a striking copper engraving depicting Moshe and Aaron. The second title page is in Hebrew, and the third in Latin. The final [2] leaves contain indices for the Haftorahs read throughout the year.  An excellent copy, printed on crisp, white paper. All edges are fully gilded, bound in a contemporary full leather binding. Includes a slipcase.  Page size: 14cm.  [6], 306, [2] pp.
