Rare: Beis Rachel V’Shaar Hallel Yah – R. Naftali Katz, Amsterdam 1741. First Edition - A rare, complete copy of R. Naftali Katz’s Zemiros which he authored personally. First edition, published after his death by his grandsons, Amsterdam 1741. It contains special songs, prayers and praises to be recited throughout the year. One of only a handful copies in existence. A complete copy such as this is of utmost rarity. To the best of our knowledge, this work has never been offered for sale at auction in its original form such as this lot, as intended by the author. Interestingly, it was sometimes printed together with a year-round Siddur, although it was never intended to serve as a companion to the Siddur. See: The Bibliography of the Hebrew Book - Vinograd, who records this as an independent work, adding that it is sometimes published together with a year-round Siddur. R. Naftali Katz (1649-1718), the saintly Kabbalist and author of “Semichas Chachamim”. He served as Rabbi of some o the most prominent Jewish communities, such as Ostroh, Frankfurt and Poznan. In very good condition. Paper slightly browned, typical for Amsterdam imprints of this era. 16 pp. Page size: Approx. 16cm.
