Sefer Toras HaChatas, Cracow 1577. Rare Second Edition With Author’s Corrections.
A complete copy of Sefer Toras HaChatas, Cracow 1577. Authored by R. Moshe Isserles (1530-1572), and contains the laws of Isser V’Heter (dietary laws). Second edition, printed with the corrections of Rema himself, using his very own copy, as written on the title page: “Printed now for a second time with many additions from the copy which was edited by R. Moshe Isserles before he departed this world” (see Hebrew text for the exact quote). This edition was printed just five years after his death.
A 16th c. handwritten gloss seen on pp. 9; additional handwritten minor corrections seen throughout, probably early 17th century. With various ownership inscriptions seen on verso of final leaf, with another inscription which reads: “I Nathan Katz bought this Toras HaChatas… Sunday, Parshat Vayakhel 1579”.
A complete copy of this work is rare. To the best of our knowledge, this edition has appeared only once at public auction in the last two decades.
In overall very good condition. Light stains seen on some pages.
