Sefer Marpeh Lashon - R. Rafael Hamburger, Altona 1790. First Edition. With Rare Handwritten Dedication by Author. - A complete copy of Sefer Marpeh Lashon, the classic ethical and Mussar work authored by R. Rafael HaKohen of Hamburg (1722-1803). First edition, Altona 1790. R. Refael of Hamburg was known as a preeminent Torah scholar in his day, and was the Rebbe of R. Chaim of Volozhin in his youth (prior to acquanting himself with the Vilna Gaon). Subsequently, he served as the Chief Rabbi of the Three Kehillos - Altona, Hamburg and Wandsbek, where he was recognized by all as one of the leaders of the generation.  This present copy features a rare inscription from the author himself, in dedication to a group of Torah scholars from Safed.  In good-fair condition. Minor worming seen on some pages, at times affecting text. Light stains to some pages. Bound in a new, ornate hand-tooled leather binding.  [4], 125, [1] pp.  Vinograd, Altona 141.
