Iggros Sofrim - Letters from the Sofer and Eiger Rabbinic Families, Vienna 1929. First Edition. An Impressive Copy. - A complete copy of a rare first edition of this work, published by R. Shlomo Sofer of Beregszász, Hungary. Contains tens of letters written by R. Akiva Eiger, his son-in-law R. Moshe Sofer, R. Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Sofer (Ksav Sofer), R. Shimon Sofer of Krakow and R. Simcha Bunim Sofer. In his introduction, he relates how he collected the letters siglehandlelly over the years, one by one, until he was able to publish them in this edition. Various controversies have been raised regarding the reliability of this work and it’s author, although it is beyond the scope of this description to delve into the matter.    With photostadts of various letters, as well as portraits of the respective Rabbis, all printed on high-quality glossy paper. Bound at pp. 89 is a large fold-out image of R. Akiva Eiger walking with members of his Beis Din (small tear in upper center portion).  A mint copy in like-new condition, bound in original cloth boards. This work in pristine condition such as this copy is extremely rare.
