A Highly Important 19th Century Galician Silver Tzedakah Box - Brody Circa 1845. - A highly detailed and important silver charity box produced in Brody, Galicia circa 1845. Interestingly, this charity box was made to resemble a book. An interesting Hebrew engraving is seen on the front, which seems to suggest this was used at the local Synagogue of Brody in order to sustain its costs and upkeep. Very rare and absolutely beautiful.  In excellent condition. Marked twice; silversmiths markings as well as place and date of making seen.  Measures approximately 6” tall by 4” wide. Weighs approx 346g.  Silver fineness: 13 loth, which is equivalent to .812/1000
