Sefer Chochmas Shlomo Maharshal, Vienna 1812. The Personal Copy of R. Shlomo Zvi Schick of Karcag.

A complete copy of Sefer 'Chochmas Shlomo'- Maharshal printed in Vienna. Seen on the title page is the signature of R. Shlomo Schick in his own handwriting, as well as additional inscriptions on the flyleaf confirming his ownership of this Sefer.

R. Schick was born in Hungary in 1844, and he was a blood-relative and disciple of R. Moshe Schick, commonly known as the Maharam Schick. R. Schick was known to be very open-minded, and as such he was considered an extremist to many in Hungary at that time. As an example, he was virtually the only ultra-orthodox Rabbi who allowed those who wished to obtain a college degree. This decision was met with criticism from fellow Rabbonim. His personality notwithstanding, he maintained relationships with the leading Hungarian Rabbis during his time, such as R. Meir Perles of Karoly (Carei), Maharam Schick of Chust, R. David Schick of Tokaj and many others. R. Schick passed away in 1916.
