Early 20th C. Luther Household Hand Crank Grinder - C-20968 Small cast iron hand crank grinder marked “Luther Household, ” retaining its original black japanned finish and mounted grinding wheel. The compact clamp-on form and geared hand crank mechanism suggest use as a small sharpening grinder or household utility bench tool intended for mounting to the edge of a workbench or table. The piece features a side tension adjustment wing screw, cast iron housing, and narrow abrasive wheel. Raised cast lettering reading “Luther Household” remains visible on the body. Produced by Luther Grinder Manufacturing Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin during the early 20th century. Wear, paint loss, oxidation, and scattered surface scratches present throughout from age and use. Grinding wheel shows wear. Clamp and crank mechanisms remain present but are not functional. 4” W x 8” L x 6.25” H
