Early Ceramic -Etna- Carnation Vase by Weller - C-18761 c. 1900s; Weller Pottery - Zanesville, Ohio Glazed art pottery vase in Weller's Etna pattern, featuring a flared trumpet form with a softly graduated gray-green neck transitioning to a cream ground decorated with hand-painted red carnations and green foliage. The surface displays a fine network of age-related crazing beneath the glaze, consistent with early 20th-century Weller production. The proportions and narrow mouth are characteristic of carnation vases, designed to hold a single bloom or small cluster upright. The Etna line was among Weller Pottery's early art pottery offerings, produced during a period when the company was shifting from utilitarian wares toward more decorative, hand-finished forms. Pieces from this line are noted for their subdued palette, naturalistic floral motifs, and simple yet elegant shapes, reflecting the influence of Arts & Crafts aesthetics in American pottery at the turn of the century.
