Style William Glackens ”Children Courtyard” Pastel - Style of William James Glackens (American, 1870-1938). Pastel on paper drawing titled ”Children in Courtyard, ” early 20th century. Depicting two young girls reading while sitting together on a yellow, textured hay ground. A flock of hens meander around them searching for feed amongst the straw. Along the background a rustic wooden chicken coop in muted browns and blues complements the golden, sun-drenched courtyard. Initialed along the lower right. Provenance: Arvest Galleries, Boston, MA, 23 November 1988; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Sight; height: 8 in x width: 10 1/2 in. Framed; height: 16 1/2 in x width: 19 1/2 in x depth: 1 1/2 in. Condition: The artwork is in good condition overall. There are no visible areas of restortion under UV. The artwork has not been reomved from the frame.
