2 Juan Cabral Bejarano Biblical Scenes Oil on Canvas - Juan Cabral Bejarano (Spanish, 1834-?). Group of two oil on canvas paintings each depicting religious biblical scenes. One depicting Moses and the Israelites at the Rock of Horeb, Old Testament; one depicting Jesus feeding the five-thousand, New Testament. One signed along the lower center; one signed along the lower left. Each with a residual Brunk Auctions tag affixed along the verso. Provenance: Brunk Auctions, Asheville, NC, ”Premier Auction, ” February 24, 2023, Lot 893; Private Minnesota Collection. (Each) Unframed; height: 20 1/2 in x width: 39 1/2 in. (Each) Framed; height: 29 1/2 in x width: 47 1/2 in x depth: 1 3/4 in. Condition: To each, there are no visible tears or losses. No evidence of inpainting under UV light inspection. The varnish is lightly toned. To one, there are two small losses to the pigment along the lower left quadrant. Light wear along the perimeter of the work where the rabbet and canvas have rubbed against eachother resulting in some minute losses to the pigment. To one, there are areas of craquelure along the left side. Minute losses to the pigment along the lower left quadrant. To each, there are four felt tabs adhered along the verso of the frame. Small, scattered areas of soiling along the verso fo the canvases. Light wear to the frames, including small losses to the gilt and gesso. Works not inspected out of frame.
