In the case of this tureen, the finial was painted with leaf decoration, but could have just as easily been painted as a crown. The handles are a simplified version of the more ornate mask form with upright feather headdress. The style was after a silver original, which was copied by Meissen, and was popular in Scandinavia. Some small chips to the knop, fritting along the lid and handles. Some overal wear to the gilding and footrim.
