Chinese Qing Famille Verte Ceramic Buddha ca. 1880 - Chinese famille verte ceramic figure depicting a laughing Buddha or Budai, Qing dynasty, ca. 1880. The figure is modeled as seated with his robes loosely draped about his shoulders, holding a string of beads in his right hand. With a raised four-character mark along the interior. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 7 in x width: 7 in x depth: 5 1/2 in. Condition: There is a large firing flaw to one armpit. This firing flaw extends into a hairline crack that extends through the chest to the other armpit. Light losses to the paint throughout. Light wear to the underside.
