Chinese Red Lacquered Floral & Landscape Armchair - Chinese red and black lacquered wooden armchair, 20th century. Featuring openwork back and arms, each decorated with floral blooms and vining foliate forms. The seat adorned with a lobed cartouche depicting pagodas nestled among rolling hills in a coastal landscape scene. The seat's trim featuring a Greek key-pattern fret band. Atop square legs joined by stretchers. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 36 1/2 in x width: 25 in x depth: 18 3/4 in. Condition: The chair appears structurally sound. There is a large horizontal split along the seat. There are areas of crazing and flaking to the lacquer throughout. There are large losses to the lacquer and pigment along the arms, seat, stretchers, top rail, and legs. Separation to the joints. Wear along the extreme edges. Wear to the feet.
