Victor Vasarely Op Art Serigraph Print - Victor Vasarely (Hungarian/French, 1906-1997). Serigraph print on paper featuring a warped grid pattern that creates a powerful three-dimensional optical illusion. Pencil signed along the lower right; numbered 218/250 along the lower left. Blindstamped along the lower left. With a toned label adhered along the verso dated ”9-30-77.” Victor Vasarely is widely accepted as a ”grandfather” and leader of the Optical art movement. His work titled ”Zebra, ” created in 1937, is considered by some to be one of the earliest examples of Op art. Sight; height: 37 1/4 in x width: 30 1/2 in. Framed; height: 40 in x width: 37 3/4 in x depth: 3/4 in. Condition: There are no visible tears or losses. There is undulation to the sheet, particularly along the upper and lower edges; undulation to the mat along the lower left and right quadrants. The sheet is toned. Floated in frame under a nonacidic mat. Framed under plexiglass. Light accretions and scratches along the plexiglass. There are a few minute pieces of debris trapped under the plexiglass along the lower margin of the work. Light wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
