Takesada Matsutani ”Kukan-1” Silkscreen 1970 - Takesada Matsutani (Japanese, b. 1937). Silkscreen on paper titled ”Kukan-1,” 1970. Depicting geometric forms. Pencil signed and dated along the lower right; titled and editioned 1/50 along the lower left. Takesada Matsutani was a member of the second generation of avant-garde Gutai artists, known for his iconic use of vinyl adhesive and graphite pencil, from bulbous sensual forms to monumental canvases of pencilled streams. His works can be found in the collections of the Centre Pompidou and the Institut national d'histoire de l'art (INHA) in Paris, the National Museum of Art in Tokyo, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, among others. Matsutani lives and works between Paris, France, and Nishinomiya, Japan. Sight; height: 27 1/2 in x width: 19 1/2 in. Framed; height: 33 3/4 in x width: 25 3/4 in x depth: 3/4 in. Condition: There are no visible tears or losses. There are several deep creases, including three along the upper third of the work. Floated in frame atop a nonacidic mat. Framed under plexiglass, Lihgt scratches along the plexiglass. Light wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
