Hugh Kappel Abstract Watercolor Painting 1951 - Hugh Kappel (American, 1910-1982). Watercolor on paper painting depicting abstract geometric forms executed in red, yellow, blue, and black pigment, 1951. Signed and dated along the lower right. Kappel was one of the founding members of the New York Abstract Expressionist movement. He exhibited at both the seminal 9th Street Show and the following Stable Gallery Show. Sight; height: 19 in x width: 23 3/4 in. Framed; height: 26 1/2 in x width: 31 1/2 in x depth: 2 in. Condition: The colors are bold and bright. Some undulation throughout. Some light creases to the corners, mainly the upper left corner. Minute pinholes to the corners original to the artistic production. The work is floated in frame on a non-acidic mat. Framed under glass. Light wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
