Featuring a high relief and bust format which are traditionally reserved for historical, noble subjects, Ahearn suggests the inherent dignity and nobility of his contemporary, local New York subjects. Condition: Due to the material and artistic style it is difficult to determine if there are any breaks or losses, however, no major losses appear to be evident. There are areas of flaking along the collar, resulting in a loss of pigment. Minute, scattered areas of brown pigment along the figure's shirt. There is museum wax gathered along the extreme edges of the verso. There are areas of discoloration to the plaster along the verso. Dust and debris gathered along the recessed areas.
