Further signed and dated along the verso. With ink-stamp from ”The Estate of Hubert Kappel” and label form McCormick Gallery. Reference: “Hugh Kappel Paintings: 1936-1976,” Birdsall-Haase Gallery, 2011, pg. 65. Kappel was one of the founding members of the New York Abstract Expressionist movement. He exhibited at both the seminal 9th Street Show and the following Stable Gallery Show. Unframed; height: 46 in x width: 46 in. Framed; height: 47 1/2 in x width: 47 1/2 in x depth: 2 1/4 in. Condition: The colors are bold and bright. There are some areas of craquelure, including an area of of spiral craquelure along the upper right. Light wear to the frame.
