Bidspirit auction | Antonio Kieff Bronze ”Folklore 2”

Antonio Kieff Bronze ”Folklore 2” Sculpture - Antonio Grediaga Kieff (Canadian/Spanish, b. 1936). Abstract polished bronze sculpture with a stone square base and custom acrylic plinth titled ”Folklore No. 2.” With a gallery label adhered along the base indicating title and edition no. 5/6. Kieff's ”Folklore” works hold particular significance, not only are they the most three-dimensional of his sculptures, but their title itself invokes roots and tradition, an acknowledgment of time. Each piece is a bronze continuum of space, branched circlets turning one into another, without beginning or end. Like the tales, songs, and dances of any folk tradition, these sculptures seem to predate history itself: abstract emblems of an indelible past.
