Large Jerry Wingren ”Cut & Fold” Sculpture - Jerry Wingren (American, 1939-2026). Large painted steel with a granite base sculpture titled ”Cut & Fold.” The ”Cut and Fold” series, consisting of many iterations of the theme completed throughout the artist's life, utilized the principles of origami and mathematical sequences to create planar works with acute presence. The shapes are derived from the golden ratio, bisected along key axes in accordance with the Fibonacci sequence. These cuts create deliberate, crisp folds along the rigid steel plates. There are areas of oxidization, especially along the lower points, and inner folds. Areas of crazing to the white paint throughout. Some areas of soiling throughout as expected from exposure to the elements. There are chips to three corners of the stone base. The sculpture has been displayed outdoors.
