Marc Chagall ”Engagement at the Circus” Lithograph - Marc Chagall (French/Russian, 1887-1985). Lithograph print on Arches paper titled ”Engagement at the Circus, ” 1983. Depicting two lovers embracing and holding a floral bouquet dominating the center of the composition. The man and woman are surrounded by a celebratory troupe of circus performers, including clowns, acrobats, and equestrians. Pencil signed along the lower right; numbered 3/50 along the lower left. Published by Atelier Mourlot, Paris, France. Sheet; height: 25 3/4 in x width: 18 3/4 in. Framed; height: 33 in x width: 28 3/4 in x depth: 1 1/2 in. Condition: The colors are bold and bright. There are no tears or losses. To the sheet, the right extreme edge is deckled while the left, upper, and lower edges are not which is believed to be inherent to the printing process. There is a small area of skimming to the sheet along the lower right. There is a small area of soiling to the sheet along the verso. Floated in frame under a cloth-lined mat. Framed under plexiglass. Light wear to the frame.
