Sokari Douglas Camp ”Pouch Woman” Sculpture 1991 - Sokari Douglas Camp (Nigerian/British, b. 1958). Large welded and painted steel sculpture with copper titled ”Pouch Woman, ” 1991. Depicting a standing mother with child. The mother with matte pink shirt and blue pleated skirt, a ribbed and pierced open-work sling secured to her chest and cradling a child. Each surmounted by a head composed of sinuous and curved copper hair. Provenance: Purchased from the artist's studio, London, 2004; From the Estate of Gary Fink. Gary C. Fink was a collector with both a lighthearted sense of humor and a serious commitment to art. Some tarnishing to the bronze, particularly along the hair elements. Scattered accretions. Dust gathered along recessed areas. Wear to the base, including chips and scratches.
