Aft. Kirner German School Oil Painting ca. 1880 - German School oil on copper painting, circa 1880; after the painting titled ”Children at Play” (1838) by Johann Baptist Kirner (German, 1806-1866). Depicting three children playing horseback with a rustic cottage and mountains in the background. Pencil inscribed ”Kirner” along the upper stretcher of the frame along the verso. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Unframed; height: 14 1/2 in x width: 11 1/2 in. Framed; height: 18 1/2 in x width: 15 3/4 in x depth: 2 in. Condition: The painting is in good condition overall. There is a thick layer of varnish along the surface. There is a surface scratch along the lower quadrant. Under UV, there is some edge wear visible and craquelure. The frame has wear.
