Paul King ”Fishing Boats at Concarneau” Painting - Paul Bernard King (American, 1867-1947). Oil on canvas laid board painting titled ”Fishing Boats at Concarneau, ” late 19th or early 20th century. Depicting a harbor scene with a group of sail boats on the water as two men approach in their rowboat to board. Signed and titled along the lower right; further signed and titled along the verso. With an Arvest Galleries label adhered along the verso. Provenance: Arvest Galleries, Boston, MA, November 23, 1988; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Unframed; height: 12 1/2 in x width: 16 1/4 in. Framed; height: 19 1/4 in x width: 23 1/4 in x depth: 1 1/2 in. Condition: The painting is in good condition overall. The canvas has been relined with wax. There is a small area of loss along the sail of the center ship. There are scattered areas of inpainting to the sails and sky. There is craquelure that has been treated visible with critical light. The frame has wear.
