Depicting a partially nude female figure seated on a striped turquoise chair against a bright yellow and deep blue background. Signed ”Henri Matisse” along the lower right; after the painting titled ”Woman in an Armchair” (1936) by Fauvist artist Henri Matisse (French, 1869-1954). The painting portrays Matisse's muse and assistant, Lydia Delectorskaya, who made consistent appearances throughout his work during the 1930s. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Unframed; height: 25 1/2 in x width: 19 in. Framed; height: 36 in x width: 29 in x depth: 3 1/4 in. Condition: The painting is in good condition overall. There are no visible areas of restoration under UV. The frame has wear.
