Luis Sottil ”Standing Invitation” Painting - Luis Sottil (Mexican, b. 1959). Naturalismo painting on canvas titled ”Standing Invitation.” Depicting two Blackbuck antelopes with colorful birds perched along their spiraled, ringed horns. The artist is the creator of the Naturalismo art movement, a process in which a rich coat of gold leaf is applied along the background and the pigments are derived from natural sources. Label affixed along the verso with artist name and title. Sight; height: 52 in x width: 37 in. Framed; height: 61 1/2 in x width: 46 1/4 in x depth: 1 3/4 in. Condition: The colors are bold and bright. There are no visible tears or losses. There are minute scatterings of blue and green pigment along the surface throughout. There is a minute scratch to the canvas along the left horn of the right most antelope, only visible upon close inspection. Light wear to the frame, including a small chip along the upper left corner. There is a loss to the paper backing along the verso. Work not inspected out of frame.
